After the sudden death of King Beopheung, Queen Regent Jiso wages a clever plan. She reestablishes the Hwarang order—elite youth warriors trained in martial arts, philosophy, and loyalty—to safeguard the royal future. Dog‑Bird (Moo‑myung), a low-born wanderer, arrives under false identity and is determined to uncover his purpose. Seon-u, burdened by familial expectations, arrives as a golden scion but lacks direction. Both are chosen among others to become Hwarang. Enter Ah‑ro, a half‑breed herbalist and part‑time entertainer, whose warm heart leads her into their path by chance. Her spirited personality sparks friction with Dog‑Bird’s stoic resolve and creates a gentle curiosity in Seon-u. As palace grounds become their training field, romantic sparks and political currents begin to intertwine. Loyalties will be tested, hearts will be stirred, and a peaceful Silla may emerge from unlikely bonds.
