He attended Joongdong High School, then initially entered Kyung Hee University’s Film & Theater Department before transferring to—and graduating from—Dongguk University, majoring in Theater Studies. Career highlights:
Lee Kyu‑hyung began his career on stage, debuting in 2001 with a minor film role in Kick the Moon while still in college. For years, he focused on theater and musicals, including roles in Laundry, Fan Letter, and Gloomy Day, and even landed a notable cameo in The Face Reader after filling in unexpectedly. Transitioning to screen, he appeared in Goblin and Unkind Ladies, before earning critical acclaim for his performances in Stranger (as Yoon Se‑won) and Prison Playbook (as Yoo Han‑yang), the latter propelling him to mainstream recognition. He continued to impress with roles in Life, Doctor John, and Hi Bye, Mama!, while also maintaining a prolific presence in theater—most notably starring as Cyrano in 2019. His versatility shines through cameos in Hospital Playlist 2, Voice 4, Racket Boys, and The Witch’s Diner. In 2024, he took on a political role in Uncle Samsik, solidifying his stature as a leading supporting actor.
