Park Yong-kyu (stage name Park Seo-joon) discovered his passion for performance through his school’s animation club and stage performances during middle school. He enrolled in the Seoul Institute of the Arts, majoring in acting. In 2008, he fulfilled his military service in the Security Guard Battalion at Cheongju Correctional Facility before returning to pursue acting.
Career highlights:
Park began with support roles in TV (Dream High 2, Pots of Gold, One Warm Word) and small-screen hosting of Music Bank. His breakout came in 2015 through Kill Me, Heal Me and She Was Pretty, followed by a strong film showing in The Chronicles of Evil. In 2016 he played Moo‑myung/Kim Sun‑woo in Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth, marking his first historical drama and earning him a Top Excellence Award nomination at the 31st KBS Drama Awards. Subsequent hits include Fight for My Way, What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, and leading roles in Itaewon Class. In film, he starred in Midnight Runners, The Divine Fury, and appeared in Parasite. He has since broken into Hollywood with a role in The Marvels.
