Born on June 3, 1973, in Nam‑gu, Busan, South Korea, Yoo Jae‑myung graduated from Pusan National University. Before rising in TV and film, he worked as a theatre director in Busan and even taught acting in Seoul for several years.

Career highlights:

Debuting in the 2001 film The Last Witness, Yoo steadily built a strong portfolio in supporting roles. Korean viewers first noticed him in Reply 1988 (2015), and he gained further acclaim in Stranger (2017), Life (2018), Itaewon Class (2020), and the feature Voice of Silence (2020). In Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth (2016–17), he portrayed Pa‑oh, the loyal bodyguard and mentor to the young King Sammaekjong. His most recent accolades include a Best Supporting Actor win at the 6th APAN Star Awards (Life) and again at the 2025 Baeksang Arts Awards (Land of Happiness).
