Joon-jae grows increasingly disturbed by how closely his dreams mirror his reality. He shares the journal with his friend and begins investigating the figure of Dam-ryeong. Slowly, he uncovers the tragic fate of the mermaid and the man who tried to save her. Meanwhile, Sim Chung is followed by a mysterious figure who seems to know what she is. Her powers flare unexpectedly, and she narrowly escapes. Back home, Joon-jae finds her hiding in the corner, frightened and vulnerable. He gently comforts her, though he still doesn’t fully understand why. In a dream that night, Dam-ryeong appears to him directly, warning him: “Protect her, or you’ll lose her—again.” The boundary between past and present begins to dissolve. When Joon-jae wakes, he sees Sim Chung sleeping beside him, unaware that her fate may once again lie in his hands.
