Su Jing Jing’s longtime friend, Xiao Han, visits her unexpectedly, and Leng Ye instantly takes notice. When he sees them laughing together, an unusual fire rises in his chest. He finds excuses to interrupt, makes sarcastic remarks, and even assigns Jing Jing extra tasks to keep her away. She’s confused by his behavior but refuses to let it affect her professionalism. Meanwhile, Xiao Han picks up on Leng Ye’s attitude and teases him openly. Later, during a party, Jing Jing dances with Xiao Han, pushing Leng Ye over the edge. He drags her away, pretending it’s for security reasons—but his jealousy is obvious. The night ends with a heated exchange where Jing Jing challenges him: “Why do you care so much?” He doesn’t answer. Because the truth scares him more than any threat she’s guarding him from.
