Zhao Zhengyang was born in Shenyang, Liaoning in 1984. He was admitted to the Beijing Film Academy in 1998, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in acting. After graduation, he both pursued his career as an actor and later returned to the Academy as a teacher, mentoring future actors.

Career Highlights

Zhao made his acting debut in the historical drama Da Han Tian Zi (2001). Over the next two decades, he has portrayed a wide range of roles—from Zhang Qian to revolution-era characters like Li Fuchun in My French Years (2004) and Wang Honglin in Sorghum Red (2009). He gained notable popularity as the male lead "Fan Liang" in the urban light comedy How a Wife Is Made (2011). He continued with prominent roles in titles such as The Theory of Love (2012), Dragon‑Cauldron Storms at Yao Wan (2013), Landmine Warfare (2014), Love’s Spy (2015), and First Wife No.1 (2016). Besides acting, he ventured into directing with Walking Around (2009) and comedy Bridesmaid Squad (2017). In 2020, he starred as Chancellor Wang Huan in the historical epic The Qin Empire (大秦赋).
