Amid giggles and awkward moments, she forgets basic human manners, leaning in close to Fang Leng with misread cues. Embarrassed by her own unpredictability, she tries to apologize, but Fang Leng gently guides her through it. As he soothes her trembling emotions, he grows more protective. The storm cuts power, leaving them in candlelight, and when Fang Leng brushes a stray raindrop from her cheek, the moment hangs—and a spark kindles. Later, after carefully correcting her memory and helping her rest, Fang Leng checks on her, his concern unmasked. Xiaoqi drifts to sleep, whispering “thank you” in a voice both alien and achingly human, leaving Fang Leng to ponder how deeply he’s already fallen.
