Deng Ke

Deng Ke is a Chinese film and television producer and director. He studied at the Communication University of China, starting in 2006. Deng developed an early interest in film—writing scripts and self-funding a short film during high school—and moved to Beijing after graduation to pursue directing.

Career highlights:

Deng Ke has built a successful career in Chinese television and web drama, working as both a director and producer across a wide range of genres. He made his directorial debut with the feature film Bad Kids’ Autumn in 2010. In 2015, he produced the romantic film Star Wish Re-Love, followed by the popular fantasy-romance series My Amazing Boyfriend in 2016. In 2018, he contributed as a writer and producer to the sci-fi romantic comedy Alien Girl Chai Xiaoqi. The year 2019 saw him producing two detective dramas—Miss Cheongsam Detective and Miss Ai Si Detective—set in the Republican era. In 2021, he directed and produced the widely acclaimed historical web drama My Heroic Husband. His more recent works include the 2024 modern romance drama With Phoenix and the fantasy/wuxia series The Night Watchman. In 2025, he directed The Kindness of Heroes (《折腰》), a historical romance drama. Deng Ke has also announced future projects, such as the second season of My Heroic Husband and the martial arts drama With Jin Chang’an.
