Oliver Watson (born 2004–2007 in London, England) is a British actor who first gained attention through short films before making his mark on streaming television. He grew up and was educated in a private/public school in London, pursuing his studies alongside his early acting forays.
Education & Early Career
Watson started acting in 2021 at age 14–17, debuting as a bully in the short drama Cutting Off the Ring, directed by Ben Warner. He followed up by playing "Oli" in another Warner short, Retrospect, which won Best Editing at the University of Northampton’s 72‑Hour Film Festival. In 2022, he made his feature film debut as Tristan in Netflix's The School for Good and Evil. His crossover to television stardom came the same year with Wednesday, portraying Kent in all eight episodes of its first season.
Career Highlights
Watson’s pivotal role as Kent the Merman on Netflix’s Wednesday (created by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar, executive produced/directed by Tim Burton) brought him widespread recognition. The show became the second‑most watched English-language series on Netflix within three weeks of its premiere and earned multiple Golden Globe nominations and Emmy awards. Watson himself received a Golden Globe nod as part of the cast for Best TV Series – Musical/Comedy. Qualifying as a major career turning point, this role solidified his place in the industry.
