Joy Okon Sunday (born September 25, 1996, on Staten Island, New York) is a Nigerian‑American actress, filmmaker, and writer. Passionate about theatre, she trained at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School and went on to study Critical Studies at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, graduating with honors. She produced short films via the Tribeca Film Institute while building her credentials in both acting and filmmaking
Career highlights:
Since her screen debut in a 2018 episode of MacGyver, Joy has steadily built a diverse body of work. She earned her SAG card through her role in Bad Hair (2020), then appeared in films like Shithouse, The Beta Test, Dog, and Rise. Her breakout came as the siren Bianca Barclay in Netflix’s Wednesday (2022–), directed by Tim Burton. She landed in Wednesday’s top supporting ensemble and has continued to shape Bianca’s character through season 2. Alongside acting, she’s expanded roles behind the camera as a director, writer, editor, and producer of short films.
