Angela Robinson, born in Chicago in 1971, is a celebrated American film and TV director, screenwriter, and producer. She earned her BA in Theatre from Brown University and went on to receive an MFA from New York University. Since beginning her career in 1995 with the black-and-white queer vampire short Chickula: Teenage Vampire, Robinson has consistently infused LGBTQ+ themes into her work. Notably, she achieved widespread acclaim with her cult hit D.E.B.S. (2003), later adapting it into a feature film. Her directorial credits span hit series such as The L Word, True Blood, Hung, and How to Get Away with Murder, demonstrating her versatility and impact on both film and television

Robinson's career features trailblazing work that broke new ground for LGBTQ+ representation. She created the beloved short and feature D.E.B.S., won multiple festival awards, and produced the indie cult classic Girltrash! which received the Audience Award at the Paris International Lesbian and Feminist Film Festival. In 2017, she wrote and directed Professor Marston and the Wonder Women, a critically acclaimed biopic about the polyamorous relationship that inspired Wonder Woman. On television, she's made her mark as a writer-director on numerous influential shows. Most recently, she directed two episodes of Netflix’s hit series Wednesday (Season 2, debuting August 6 & September 3, 2025)
